The Kartech gauge is a good gauge with 0.8,1.0,1.2 & 1.4mm increments on it. The majority of guys who are doing engines are using them.

To set the height of the metering lever arm, which bends very easily, use a small screw driver or even your finger nail. Measure the distance between the top of the needle and a straight edge running across the top of the carburetor body.

 The KTJ is set it to about 1mm below the top of the carburetor body (no gasket). If you go much higher in the lever it will give it more fuel and it can become a little harder to start. The KTS should also be st to 1mm but by experimenting with this can sometimes be beneficial.
